As World Autism Month begins, Currys Ireland has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusivity and support for neurodiverse individuals.
Through a series of thoughtful initiatives and a committed partnership with My Canine Companion, Currys is making a difference in the lives of individuals with autism and their families.

Continued partnership with My Canine Companion:
Since November 2021, Currys Ireland has proudly partnered with My Canine Companion, a Cork-based charity dedicated to providing service dogs to children with autism. The partnership has been a resounding success, raising an impressive €328,000 to date - funding the training of 33 life-changing service dogs.
Given the positive impact of this collaboration, Currys is delighted to continue its support for this vital cause.
Autism-centric initiatives at Currys:
Beyond fundraising, Currys has introduced several key initiatives to better support neurodiverse customers and colleagues:
• Pennies micro-donation service: Customers can opt to donate 50 cent to My Canine Companion when making a card transaction in any of Currys’ 16 stores nationwide.
• Accredited training: Store and corporate colleagues have undergone Autism Awareness & Understanding training in collaboration with the Willow Tree Autism Project.
‘Quiet Hour’ - for an inclusive shopping experience:
A significant step towards inclusivity, Currys has a ‘Quiet Hour’ across all 16 stores in Ireland.
From Monday to Friday until 10am, the first hour of the day is dedicated to reducing noise levels, dimming lights, and eliminating flashing screens to create a more calming environment for neurodiverse customers.
The Quiet Hour initiative acknowledges that while technology plays a crucial role in many lives, visiting a tech store can be an overwhelming experience for individuals with conditions such as Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia. Currys aims to ensure that all customers feel comfortable and supported while shopping.
To further enhance this initiative, Currys joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network, offering customers a discreet way to indicate that they have an invisible disability and may require additional assistance. Sunflower lanyards are available in all 16 Currys stores nationwide.
As World Autism Month continues, Currys is proud to shine a light on the importance of understanding and supporting neurodiverse individuals and looks forward to further strengthening its partnership with My Canine Companion.
