Whiskey Write Up | Teeling Whiskey Single Pot Still

Writer: Danny Joyce | EditorDanny Joyce | Editor

Up next for a Whiskey Write Up is another Pot Still, and this one was the first Pot Still made in Dublin in since the early 70's. Everyone knows I'm a massive fan of Teeling Whiskey, (yes I'm probably a tad biased having worked for them for 3 years until the Pandemic changed that!) but this is one I genuinely think gets overlooked far too often.⠀

I've had many a sup of this since it's release a couple of years ago. I still have some bottles of this in the press, so sat down with it for revision, to reminisce over better days gone by, and anticipate even better days ahead...for us, and for this Pot Still's maturity.⠀

A true Blue, Dublin Pot Still. Crafted using a uniquely Irish mash bill consisting of 50% malted and 50% unmalted barley that has been triple distilled and matured in a combination of American Virgin Oak, Bourbon, and Sherry casks. On the nose there's a light, biscuity sweetness. Typical Pot still spices, with a short level of creaminess and a beautiful honeycomb/biscuit finish.. a more than pleasant drop, underrated!⠀

ABV 46% | 70cl⠀⠀

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Hibiscus flowers, honeycomb, white grape flesh, grapefruit & citrus.

Palate: Lychees, return of the white grapes, white pepper with warm, roasted peaches & baked biscuits.

Finish: Dry finish, hints of spice, roasted almonds & maple sugar.

Another great value Pot Still (around €55) I thoroughly recommend trying this for yourself!
