ALDI has teamed up, once again, with Monaghan based Old Carrick Mill Distillery to introduce an exclusive small batch Irish gin to 156 stores nationwide. Mo Chara Irish Gin takes its name from the Irish language, meaning “my friend”, and is the perfect spirit to share among friends.
Mo Chara Passion fruit and Mango gin is distilled using a range of botanicals including passion fruit, mango, juniper, lemon, lime, coriander, and angelica root.
The gins pair wonderfully with any premium tonic water and make the most amazing martini, and can be complemented by half a passion fruit or a slice of mango.
Steven Murphy, founder of Old Carrick Mill Distillery, Co Monaghan, commented: “We have worked with the ALDI team for several years, and we continue to be impressed by their support of artisan Irish producers. With the support of ALDI, our small batch gins have been able to reach a larger target audience and we are delighted to see our newest gin be featured in 155 ALDI stores nationwide. Steven has created a selection of wonderful cocktails with the gins - two perfect recipes to enjoy ahead of the summer season:
Passion Fruit & Mango Martini
- 50ml Mo Chara Passion fruit and Mango gin
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp sugar syrup
Place all ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake well. Pour into a coupe glass and top with prosecco or serve with a shot of prosecco on the side.
Passion Fruit & Mango Frozen Daiquiri
- 1 large Mango
- 200g ice
- 100ml Mo Chara Passion fruit and Mango gin
- Juice 1/2 a lime
- 25ml of sugar syrup
Put all ingredients in an electric blender like a Nutribullet and mix until it resembles a frozen slushie. Pour into a coupe glass and garnish with a slice of mango.
