Lidl Ireland hosted an exclusive Christmas showcase at Medley in Dublin on Thursday evening, 9th November.
Hosted by James Patrice, guests were treated to an evening of festive food, wine and musical entertainment, that showcased the market leading discount retailers’ range, highlighting there is no need to compromise on quality when shopping with Lidl who promise great value and award-winning food, wine and Christmas gifts.
Over 70 guests were in attendance including host James Patrice, Sean Munsanje, Darren Conway, Joe McGucken, and Santis O’Garro. On arrival, guests we’re greeted with a selection of welcome drinks such as Mulled Wine and Prosecco. During the night, guests were treated with delicious cocktails made from Lidl’s whiskey and gin from West Cork, including a ‘Whiskey Sour’ using Dundalgan Cask Whisky and a ’Blackberry Gin Fizz’ made from Wild Burrow Gin. Guests were then offered a night cap of Irish Coffee. Other drinks on offer were a selection of Lidl’s award-winning prosecco and wine.
The venue was styled as a Christmas market using the retailers Christmas decorations including lights, garlands, locally grown wreaths and Christmas trees. Alongside showcasing an array of Christmas gifting ideas for Children and Adults.'The Tiny Quartet' offered musical entertainment, playing a variety of festive favourites, and getting the guests in the Christmas spirit.
The team at Lidl has collaborated with chef Andrew Rudd at Medley to design a canape style menu that can be easily replicated at home featuring all Lidl ingredients. Canapes included Roasted Ham and Turkey Yorkshire Pudding with Cranberry Sauce, Wild Atlantic Prawns with Garlic Butter on Lidl’s Deluxe Sourdough Bread Toasted, Chicken Skewers, Vegan Festive Nut Roast with Gravy and Vine Tomato & Mozzarella Bruschetta with a gluten-free Salve Verde.
Additional festive bites and nibbles were also available for party goers from Lidl’s Christmas party range that is available in store now. Favourites included Pigs in Blankets, Christmas Bao Buns, Vegan Stuffing Balls, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Mushroom Mini Burgers with Teriyaki Chilli Sauce and a selection of Festive Crisps. A selection of cured meats, fruit and Irish cheeses were also available with a variety of crackers ideal for making the perfect charcuterie board. Desserts included Deluxe Tiramisu, Dundalgan Whiskey 6-Month Matured Christmas Pudding with Irish Crème Liqueur Ice-Cream, Gluten Free Christmas Pudding, Macaroons and selection of Deluxe Chocolates.
Lidl emphasised that nothing from the event will go to waste, they have partnered with Food Cloud to donate any leftover food and will donate any toys/clothing leftover to the Simon Community.
At the event James Patrice spoke to Lidl’s annual festive fundraiser Trolley Dash. Offering shoppers, the opportunity to win their entire Christmas food shop for just €1, in aid of charity partner Jigsaw. Every store across the country will have one winner who will be challenged to a ‘Supermarket Sweep’ style dash around their local Lidl store to grab as much of their Christmas shopping as possible in just 2 minutes. Tickets will go on sale in all Lidl stores across Ireland from Saturday 11th November for two weeks only.
Lidl’s ‘A Magical Christmas’ range is available now in all 179 Lidl stores nationwide, with additional items being added on a weekly basis.
