This Halloween, why not try your hand at these festive favourites - Mummified Sausage Rolls and Strawberry Ghosts? These quick, easy, and budget-friendly recipes will be a hit with both kids and adults, making your Halloween celebrations extra special.

Recipe: Mummified Sausage Rolls

Serves 6 | Total cost: €6.66

 

Ingredients:

  • Bramwells Irish Processed Peas for Eyes (€0.44 for 420g)

  • 1 sheet Ready, Set…Cook! Ready Rolled Puff Pastry (€1.15 for 320g)

  • Brannan’s 16 Irish Pork Sausages (€1.29 for 454g)

  • 2 tbsp Specially Selected Caramelized Onion Relish (€1.89 for 320g)

  • 1 Healy’s Farm Irish Medium Free-Range Egg (€1.89 for 6 pack)

 

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.

  2. Remove the skin from the sausages.

  3. On a large piece of cling film, spread the sausage meat into a long sheet and flatten to 1cm width.

  4. Spoon a thin column of onion relish along the middle of the sausage meat.

  5. Roll the chutney into the sausage meat and seal using cling film.

  6. Wrap the sausage roll in puff pastry, leaving a 4cm gap halfway down for the face.

  7. Cut the pastry into strips to resemble bandages and wrap unevenly around the sausage.

  8. Place the mummified rolls on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  9. Use processed peas for the eyes and serve with extra relish for dipping.


Recipe: Strawberry Ghosts

Total cost: €6.87

 

Ingredients:

  • 50g Dairyfine Dark Chocolate (€1.89 for 200g)

  • 100g Choceur White Chocolate (€2.19 for 200g)

  • 1 punnet Specially Selected Strawberries (€2.79 for 227g)

 

Method:

  1. Melt the white chocolate and dip the strawberries into the white chocolate to coat.

  2. Melt the dark chocolate.

  3. Using a spoon, drizzle the melted dark chocolate onto greaseproof paper to create ghost eyes and mouths.

  4. Carefully place strawberries onto the chocolate decorations to make them look like spooky ghosts.

  5. Place the ghosts in the fridge to harden until ready to serve.
