Alongside Daire, who hails from Kildare, in a Munster Rugby Gaming car is Tariq Gamil from Donegal. The partnership will also see Currys sponsor Munster Rugby Gaming’s League of Legends team, which is currently in the final of the Nordic League, Division 2. Munster Rugby Gaming was established by Munster Rugby in 2020 to grow new opportunities for the club with its younger fanbase as well as widening its commercial footprint. The long-term goal is to become a multi-discipline club that reaches audiences beyond its traditional heartland. Commenting on the partnership, Enda Lynch, Head of Enterprise Munster Rugby and Team Principal Munster Rugby Gaming said: “We are delighted to partner with Currys for Munster Rugby Gaming, extending an already successful partnership with Munster Rugby. As well as suppling hardware to our esports team, the partnership has allowed us to extend into the exciting world of Sim Racing, which is seeing staggering growth on the back of the Netflix documentary series ‘Drive to Survive’ and a resurgence in interest in F1. Together with Currys and our racing partner Williams Racing, we have the right mix to ensure we give new followers of Sim Racing a traditional team they can support.” Pauline Browne, Director of Marketing & E- Commerce at Currys Ireland said at today’s announcement: “We are thrilled to extend our current partnership with Munster Rugby to include the esports division. At Currys we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of gaming so it's incredibly exciting to see our technology being used to support an Irish team’s performance in the 2022 SRO Sprint Series. We look forward to seeing the team perform over the coming months.” Steve English, Director of esports for Williams Racing added: “It’s great to see two valuable members of our partner community collaborating in sim racing. This space is growing fast and household names like Currys and Munster Rugby continue to grow the credibility of this sector of gaming. We’re looking forward to working with both parties in elite competitions, content and fan engagement.”
