A new collection of great, versatile and creatively designed styles for Autumn from Carolyn Donnelly.
“The season begins with updated core pieces; striped shirts, great black trousers, oversize Double-face wool jackets in black or grey, nylon gilets, printed dresses and tops and both fine gauge and chunky knits. All styles will take you through the season in an understated yet totally modern way. Comfort is key and all items are designed with added details; exaggerated side slits on shirts so the back or front can be tucked in separately, exclusive prints on updated items like puffa coats, gilets and jackets, and knitwear that includes striking intarsia and oversize shapes in this season’s core colours.
The essence of The Edit is all about providing those pieces you’ll want to wear every day, pieces that you can add to your existing collection to invigorate it and make it more current. It is not about an entirely new wardrobe, but key items that work hard for you like great-fitting black trousers, a statement coat, a cashmere mix polo in black or grey, or a white shirt with that added detail. Pieces that will last and carry you to the next season. The new autumn collection honours this with lots of tailored pants from simple black crops to wide-leg pinstripes, from a grey classic cut to full-leg styles with cargo pockets. From elastic waist black pinstripes for work to casual cotton kick flare pants for every day.
This season’s knitwear collection from The Edit is strong with a 12 gauge cream and black rose intarsia sweater and a chunky polo version in black. There are lots of stripes in black, cream and stone in fine cashmere or wool acrylic mix. The cashmere mix collection of sweaters and tabards arrive in-store in September. The cashmere accessories of hats, scarves and snoods will arrive in stores in October. New season colours include cobalt, green, stone, black and charcoal.
Padded coats are updated this season with exclusive prints. A dull green camouflage and a bamboo print feature on coat, jacket and gilet styles that are reversible to solid black. September brings a lovely navy double-breasted long wool mix coat and a grey wool mix and nylon quilted hybrid style. Other coat styles include cream fur or borg-trimmed hooded designs and several oversize padded jackets that are completely reversible.
There are new print stories each month with exclusively designed print on simple dresses and tops and occasionally as a bold placemat. The August theme is an impressionistic rose in shades of red, pink and green. September is a striking cobalt blue abstract print while October is bold foliage in shades of chocolate, cobalt and ochre. Our new imagery covers the early season stories of July, August and September.
