Aifric O'Connell, Aindriú de Paor and FM104’s Jim-Jim Nugent in the running to replace ‘2 Johnnies’, according to bookies

As shakeup in 2FM continues to unfold, the 2 Johnnies own preferred choice of replacement Aifric O’Connell and Aindriú de Paor are current favourites to host the afternoon show at even money, according to Ladbrokes.

In a twist, FM104’s Jim-Jim Nugent is also in the running for a shock return to 2FM at 2/1 as inside sources say he could be radio boss Dan Healy’s saviour.

Jim-Jim and Colm Hayes hosted the breakfast show every morning on 2FM from March 2007, until they moved to rival station FM104.

Speculation is also mounting that influencer and red-carpet presenter Eric Roberts could get the job at odds of 3/1, while popular comedian Michael Fry is in the running at 6/1. 2FM weekend host Conor Behan sits at 7/1 to replace the Tipperary Duo.

The future is uncertain for Carl Mullan and Donncha O’Callaghan following Doireann Garrihy’s confirmed exit. The favourite to replace her and potentially join them is 2FM weekend host Bláthnaid Treacy at 1/3. Other talent in the running are fellow 2FM weekend hosts, Roz Purcell at 4/1 and Tracy Clifford at 5/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: "Following the weekend of speculation about the 2FM shakeup, Aifric O’Connell and Aindriú De Paor could well take the reins of the 2 Johnnies afternoon slot, with punters also placing bets on Jim-Jim Nugent to make his return to the station at 2/1. All eyes are on 2FM and if the odds are anything to go by, there are big changes coming to the national airwaves!”
